Lumin is an extraordinary band based in San Francisco, CA that manages to set a new level of quality in two genres – Electronica and World Music. Members Jeffery Stott and Michael Emenau weave a flawless background of percussion and varied Electronica styles around the flowing vocals of Irina Mikailova. Their first full-length release, Hadra, encompasses everything from up-tempo club style electronic beats and funky Drum n Bass style grooves to mesmerizing down-tempo melodica, all with a heavy Middle Eastern flair in both vocals and percussion. Hadra is one of the best examples of World Fusion music this reviewer has ever listened to. The wide range of genre styles is sure to appeal equally to club fans or hard core World music fans. The blending of high tech Electronica with the unique ancient Middle Eastern rhythms and elements speaks to some primitive part of the heart that we all share.
